California IVF Mandate (SB729)
Effective July 2025: large group health plans must cover infertility diagnosis and up to 3 oocyte retrievals + unlimited embryo transfers. Explicitly LGBTQ+ inclusive -- no proof of heterosexual intercourse required to demonstrate infertility.
Fast-Track Tips:
SB729 is one of the most progressive mandates in the US -- coverage applies regardless of marital status, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Self-insured ERISA plans still exempt. Ask HR if your plan is state-regulated.
