Publicly Funded IVF

Ontario Fertility Program (OFP)

One funded IVF cycle per lifetime for patients age <=43 (using own eggs) or any age (using donor eggs). Unlimited funded IUI. Province is allocating an additional $250M over 2026-2028 to expand capacity and reduce waitlists.

Fast-Track Tips:

FAST-TRACK TIPS FOR ONTARIO: (1) The 2-year trying rule -- if you've been actively trying to conceive for 2-years or longer, your GP can refer you directly to a fertility specialist as 'expedited workup' without the standard 12-month wait. Patients age 35+ should use the 6-month rule instead. (2) Always ask your GP for referrals to MULTIPLE OFP-participating clinics simultaneously -- waitlists vary dramatically (4 months at some clinics vs 14 months at others). The OFP allows you to choose any participating clinic. (3) Ontario Fertility Treatment Tax Credit: 25% refundable credit on eligible expenses up to $5,000/year, retroactive to January 1, 2025.
